I want to add a DNS name that will map to an internal ip in Windows server

So I can access the server by DNS name rather than IP address,

Can anyone advise me on how to do that?

You need to create a new A Name in DNS. It'll be on your Domain Controller. Start -> Administrative Tools -> DNS at a guess. You'll probably want to find your Fully Qualified Domain Name under "Forward Lookup Zones" and put it in there.
