I have VMware Player 3.1.4 bridged to my LAN adapter, and although I can see broadcast packets in my Guest OS with Wireshark, nothing else seems to cross the virtual switch.

The host is Win7 64-bit. It's a laptop so I have both wireless and wired connections. Out of the box vmnet0 was bridged to the bluetooth adapter, so I had to use vmnetcfg.exe to fix that. When I set the bridge to connect to the wired ethernet, I start seeing SSDP broadcasts and other stuff(IPX? who uses that?) from the main lan as I would expect.

It sure sounds like a firewall issue, but I disabled the Windows firewall entirely in the guest and I verified that the interface in the host has no firewall applied. There is a Cisco vpn client installed, but the vmware bridging protocol is not attached to that adapter.

Suggestions?
