I have the service running as NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService.

I get the following error:

The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API. 

Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.

I have tried restarting the services that it suggests and I'm not sure what course of action to take. The event logs also offer the following information, it appears there is a connection issue:

Does anyone have any advice? sorry if this appears somewhere else but I did search for it

The Event ID in event viewer is: 1309

Also I'm running windows server 2003

Never did suss this one out! Re-installed WSUS and it started working again. I did have to go through the update approval gumpf again though which is tedious – Tommy Whitmore Nov 23 '11 at 12:27
