Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Are there any third party tools that will allow you to deploy patches to W7 and W2008R2 client computers over the network?

We already have the patches we just need to find a way to deploy them without using WSUS.

Many thanks

I was going to reply WSUS ---- but then I see you don't want that. May I ask why not? –  Kvisle Oct 20 '11 at 17:34
See: serverfault.com/questions/53178/…. If you have the media, there really isn't much different from an application or a patch. WPKG is one of the example and is free. –  Zoredache Oct 20 '11 at 19:51
we don't want WSUS because of the nature of our business, we sale our solution on isolated networks (server cabinets), there are other complications that prevent us from using WSUS. –  ToastMan Oct 21 '11 at 17:13
Zoredache, are you saying that it's possible to install patches using GPO? (have you done it yourself?) -- that would be perfect for us. –  ToastMan Oct 21 '11 at 17:14

I haven't used this but it sounds neat: WSUS Offline

If you have access to WSUS, you should consider using it. That's what it is for.

This only download patches (hence the 'offline' in the name, it doesn't push updates to client computers. –  ToastMan Oct 20 '11 at 19:39
