Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a domain name which "invisibly" redirects to my private server.

I have 2 issues with it:

  1. The big one is that que URL parameters like ?foo=bar&abc=xyz are not passed along. They appear in the adresse bar which looks like http://mydomain.com/?foo=bar&abc=xyz but my web application does not get them. The problem is not from my application itself because if do http://xx.xx.xx.xx/mycontext/?foo=bar&abc=xyz it works fine.

  2. The small one is that only the domain name is shown, the path (like index.xhtml), does not appear.

Is it some Apache configuration problem?

Should I use a "visible" domain redirection instead? But then how can I display my domain name in the adress bar?

You'd have to post the appropriate Apache config stanzas for us to troubleshoot. –  Beaming Mel-Bin Oct 30 '11 at 14:02

We can help you with the apache configuration, but it sounds like you're not in control of that. Your provider's support may be able to answer your question better. –  JakePaulus Oct 30 '11 at 14:07
