We use GPO to redirect the my documents folder on our Windows XP clients, The problem is that the downloads folder is also redirected which for some users contains a lot of data. What is the best way to deal with this this? is it possible to exclude that folder somehow (I think they are separated in GPO for Win 7). I thought about making a small script that deletes the content of the folder on logoff, but there is no environmental variables for "my documents" / "downloads". I could create my own variables and distribute them over GPO first, but our users have 3 different langugages so that would be such a hassle

Why is it a problem if the Downloads folder is redirected along with My Documents? Are you using Offline Files in conjunction with Folder Redirection? – joeqwerty Nov 2 '11 at 9:45
