I'm in the process of migrating to godaddy hosting from ATT hosting.

Currently we have everyone with IMAP connections to their inbox through thunderbird and iOS clients.

I can transfer easily using thunderbird by just drag and dropping emails into another account but it seems to take a long time. Also it seems to transfer more than I seem to have in terms of size of emails. Like as if was downloading them first then transferring to another server.

There is a USERS folder in my entire account and under each user seems to be their email content. This is seen when I go into website management tool that ATT hosting has. I was thinking there could be a way to just use some FTP tool to copy and paste the users folder into new host!?

If you have shell access on both hosts, you might be able to use imapcopy or imapsync.

Every time I initially connect thunderbird to our emails it tells me they are insecure. I don't recall exact wording of the error, but it lets me bypass without security. That's why I don't think I have shell access, I could be wrong. – Liger86 Nov 2 '11 at 17:07
For imapcopy etc., you definitely don't need shell access on any of the server machines, but you need a list of usernames and passwords on both servers for every user, and of course a computer where you can run imapcopy. – SvenW Nov 2 '11 at 17:18

@Liger: The security error likely has to do with self-signed SSL certificates or something like that. – SvenW Nov 2 '11 at 17:19
