Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am using Folder Redirection to redirect Desktop and Documents.

All users are on the same OU they are members of identical groups. The server is only one.

However some users work with Folder Redirection fine. While others don't.

I tried to use: gpupdate /target:user /force with no result. When I run a command above system asked me to log off, I logged off and logged in again but with TEMP profile loaded instead of redirected Desktop and Documents.

The machine is the same BTW (just for testing purposes used only one machine). Which is Windows 7 Enterprise 32 Bit

BTW I tried gpupdate /target:computer /force too with no result.

BTW, I disabled Offline Files completely.

However I had the same problem when I had Offline Files on.

What does gpupdate have to say in the event viewer? In Win7 gpupdate started generating much more verbose & useful events. Perhaps the user hasn't got rights to create his Folder Redirection folders etc. –  Dom Nov 3 '11 at 13:59

It's just saying common message "One or more Folder Redirection rules wasn't applied" something like this...(can't provide exact message in English becuase the system is in another language) –  bakytn Nov 4 '11 at 1:29

In Win7 those messages almost always tell you why the Folder Redirection rules failed. Even if it's just an Error Code. –  Dom Nov 5 '11 at 3:35
