I hope this is the right spot. :) I write software here locally for small businesses, and it's caught on rather well! I've been asked to port what I have at the moment to Mac, iPad, etc. At the moment the binaries are compiled with Delphi XE / FirebirdSQL. (note, using XE2 wouldn't work since the VLC components are too windows bound).

Looking over various desktop sharing apps (Citrix.. some other ones!), I never quiet found if it is possible to just run one single application (I am guessing from a cloud server, citrix, or whatever software is used) and have the end user use that on their iPad/desktop/whichever supported device.

I am confident that I can pull off the desktop sharing part, but the more specific part of just sharing one app, and also even if two people connect, can they both have their own version of the app to use?

Is anyone able to enlighten on the current situation, and provide direction for a sane solution?

Thanks,

Depending on your app and how much control you have over the client, VNC might work, RDP may as well. If your user base is very diversified I'd highly recommend switching to Java or using a cross-platform widget library like Qt or GTK. Firebird is decently cross-platform; if you only need a single/low-user database you might take a look at SQLite. I know a restart like this seems like a monumental task, but will ensure platform availability for the foreseeable future, and the time to switch is always sooner than later. – Chris S Nov 9 '11 at 1:14
