I fear this will be closed but this seems to be important question also to others than me. – anttiR Nov 13 '11 at 11:49
No one's saying it isn't an "important" question. Just that its one we don't cover here. Shopping questions are off topic, no matter how "important", and questions about what to look for in a new laptop (which could be on topic if worded rightly) should be asked on superuser... – DJ Pon3 Nov 13 '11 at 13:01

actually no. Shopping questions are off topic in SU as well - in fact its the example given in the blog post about it , so please don't migrate it there. – Journeyman Geek Nov 13 '11 at 13:39
Dang. We need Shopping Questions on stackexchange. – anttiR Nov 13 '11 at 13:50

Questions on Server Fault are expected to generally relate to servers, networking, or desktop infrastructure, within the scope defined in the faq.

Dell ships some laptops with linux. Getting one of those would be a good choice. Nvidia drivers are slightly better supported ( My radeon lost its 3D support after five years ).

Netbooks and other low price laptops have more exotic hardware and are not such a great choice compared to basic laptops. Usually the best bet is in the more expensive, 800-1700e laptops.
