Getting installation failed and links lead me to this log.

I've tried about 3 times now after removing prior installs and doing a windows update that just install Windows 7 sp1.

Where exactly can I find the reason it's failing if it's not these files under /100/Setup Bootstrap. Nothing apparent in the event logs.

Could it be the account I'm using for the Service of Network?

Installation problems = not programming-related ==> off-topic here. –  marc_s Nov 19 '11 at 10:42

I had similar issue, which i solved uninstalling everything related to sql server, reboot and then reinstall. Notice that i was trying to install sql management studio, not sql server –  andreapier Nov 19 '11 at 10:53
