Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

my problem is that I wanted to install the new Typo3 (4.6.0) and extracted it into my User's apache directory. I work with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and configured successfully PHP with MySQL. I am able to install typo3 within the installation process, but as soon as I change my User's Directory config to the following block (because I want to enable mod_rewrite), the typo3 dir isnt listed anymore and when I try to open it there appears a message

"You don't have permission to access /~[MyUserName]/test/typo3/ on this server."

<Directory "/Users/[MyUserName]/Sites/">
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
</Directory>

with ls -lah I get the following output:

drwxr-xr-x@ 16 [MyUserName] staff 544B 25 Okt 15:52 typo3

edit 1:

So now I changed the Options in the directory conf to

Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymlinks

and now I can access the typo3 directory. But unfortunately the mod_rewrite doesn't work yet.

What's the content of the .htaccess file in the typo3 dir? –  dbanck Nov 22 '11 at 14:06

You can find the .htaccess file here: github.com/typo3/TYPO3v4-Core/blob/master/_.htaccess –  alife Nov 22 '11 at 20:50
