I have a Windows 2008 Server with a static IP address using host headers to host multiple domains. My DNS server is being unreliable and I need to provide an ip address as a fallback mechanism to an Asp.net mvc app. The url is in the form of http://www.hostname.com/controller/view.

When I try to access the view with http://127.0.0.1/webapp/controller/view IIS7 is not serving the web application, but returning a 404 error because it is trying to serve fom the filesystem.

Is there a way to have IIS7 serve the ip address url as the Asp.net mvc application?

By default 127.0.0.1/controller/view would work but I must admit that I do nut fully understand your statement "using host headers to host multiple domains". Are you using URLRewrite or Application Request Routing in IIS? Probably you should look there to add the IP address in addition to the domain or sub-domain. – Louis Somers Nov 25 '11 at 9:53
