On a new VPS, I upgraded Ubuntu 10.10 to Oneiric. I now have an init process (PID 1) which has CPU load 1. This is the same, even if I reboot. Why?

something hung during the boot process, does the console give any clues? – Chris S Nov 28 '11 at 23:03
Use initctl log-priority debug to turn on logging. And see if you get anything informative. – Sachin Divekar Nov 29 '11 at 0:19
I can do this on a running system from the shell, in sudo? What log should I look at? Thank you. – Joseph Turian Nov 29 '11 at 7:23
I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the console. – Joseph Turian Nov 29 '11 at 7:23
