What APC dll works with Windows x86 32 vc9 PHP 5.3.8 XAMPP version 1.7.7?

Question

I am trying to use XAMPP and APC together on Windows.

I found APC compiled libraries http://downloads.php.net/pierre/ but every time I try a dll from there the Apache server hangs.

I use XAMPP version 1.7.7: + Apache 2.2.21 + MySQL 5.5.16 (Community Server) + PHP 5.3.8 (VC9 X86 32bit thread safe) + PEAR

I've also seen related PHP APC Accelerator completely breaks Apache2 on Windows?

Where can I find a compiled APC extension dll compatible with the above configuration?

I have tried, without success, the following dlls:

• php_apc-3.1.5-5.3-vc9-x86.zip http://downloads.php.net/pierre/php_apc-3.1.5-5.3-vc9-x86.zip

I just want to reply to this thread since it comes up a lot during to search for xampp and apc, so to help others not waste time like I did.

Use xampp version 1.7.3, but works without bugs. I have found that 1.7.4 to 1.7.7 are full of bugs. You can read about my findings here at stackoverflow. Version 1.7.3 includes the apc.dll file that works. All you have to do is remove the semicolon in front of the extension = php_apc.dll and restart apache.

Version 1.7.3 has php 5.3.1, so unless you need php 5.3.8 for a special reason, it should work fine with testing out a regular php file.
