Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I need to setup Windows 7 Professional for 20 kids to be able to use the computer. What I would like are:

  • No access to system programs (like Control Panel, Network Settings, printer installation)
  • Standard user mode (without being able to install anything)
  • Be able to use a specific browser (Firefox) rather than Internet Explorer

Background info:

There is now an AD server as a single PC with a Dansguardian proxy filter which can be setup in the browser.

Any suggestion would be appreciated! If anyone has better setting without extra cost please let me know too!

Wouldn't using a 'guest' account do some/most of this? –  HaydnWVN Dec 8 '11 at 15:14

I am not sure... Could anyone access to the computer through the Internet just because the guest account? –  Andras Sebestyen Dec 8 '11 at 15:25

If you are logging on with a domain server, setup the group policies and add each machine to the group. –  MB34 Sep 30 '13 at 14:24
