We used to block all BlackBerry users from downloading and installing blackberry apps. This also includes the famous "AppWorld".
We decided now that users should be allowed to install "approved" apps via the AppWorld application. This seems to be only way to get the "BlackBerry Bridge" application to connect their BB to the RIM PlayBook.
However, no matter what policy we change, there seems to be no way to get the AppWorld application to appear again. Our devices are OS6 by default, so they should have the app installed.
These are the policies we used:
Category: BlackBerry Appworld
- Disable App-World: No
- Application Restriction Rule: Allow
- Application Restriction List: 19435
Category: Application Center
- Disable Application Center: No <= Is this even related to AppWorld?
Category: Security
-Disallow Third Party Application Downloads: No <=Same question, is this related to AppWorld or not?
- Disable BlackBerry App World: No
Category: Browser
- Allow Application Download Services: No <= One again, is this related to AppWorld too?
I'm totally clueless how all those settings relate to the AppWorld, and which don't. RIM's website is not exactly helpful either in that area ...
update: We use BES 5 SP3
