This is a cross-post from Ask Ubuntu, but because it's not specific to Ubuntu and since I haven't gotten much of a response I wanted to ask it here as well.

I have my Samba server setup to use Kerberos tickets so I can use my Windows Domain credentials to access my Samba share. However, this only works as long as my user account is not present in the Samba users database. If my user account is present in the database, I must access my Samba share using my local user credentials.

This all works fine unless my Samba server gets rebooted. Once rebooted, my user account gets added back into the Samba users database, as evident by running sudo pdbedit -L. I can remove my user account by running sudo pdbedit -u <username> -x, but it just gets added back in again on the next reboot. What's causing this to happen? Is it because I'm sharing home directories, so Samba ensures all users are present in the database on startup? It doesn't happen when I restart the Samba service, only on reboot.

Any ideas why this happens and how I can prevent it from happening?
