Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm sure this is a simple question, but I can't seem to find a whole lot of information around it.

I want to play a .3gp file on a blackberry. What's the best way to do this? Is a player required, or can you direct link to the .3gp file hosted on a server? I'd like to use my FMIS server and stream on demand. Is that possible without a player? I don't want to spin up a linux server...

Thanks

Who wants to watch 3gp-quality video these days? It's ugly and not very well compressed, what's wrong with H.264? – Chopper3 Dec 22 '11 at 17:27
I recall 3gp was a variant of quicktime, been so long since I had something utilizing that format, might be wrong. – Tim Dec 22 '11 at 17:52
Can I convert them to flv (h.264) and stream them that way? Do I need a player to play them or could they click an rtmp link directly? – Snipper Dec 22 '11 at 21:11
