We have had several entire directories go missing off of an Isilon NAS. The IT people seem to be at a loss as to why this is happening, and with no logging of user commands we cannot disprove an rm -rf or something akin in FTP, but it seems unlikely. The problem seems to occur on recently updated directories but during the weekend when people are not actively using them. These directories simply disappear.

These disks are mounted on a number of machines, each with different and conflicting user records. I am wondering if something about file ownership will cause a cron script to throw out entire directories?

Any and all theories are welcome.
