I'm trying to reinstall a server for the company I work at. They want Windows Server 2011 Standard Edition on it. The server is a Sun Fire X4100 with 4 HDD's in 2 RAID (Mirroring) arrays. The server does not have a CD/DVD-drive so I'm trying to install the OS from my external HDD (which is NTFS formatted). The motherboard does support booting from USB HDD's so that shouldn't be the problem but whenever I try to boot from the USB-HDD it gets stuck at "Auto-detecting USB Mass storage devices" and just stays there for infinity. I'm not able to boot into the previously installed OS as well because the internal HDD's were formatted on making them RAID.
So my question is: how will I be able to install the server from my external HDD? Is it a formatting problem perhaps?
