I'm wondering if anyone knows of a log viewer that can read .evtx logs and has error hightlighting.

Basically I want something thats going to make reading logfiles easier and I can't seem to find one that will read .evtx files.

Perhaps you should specifically describe the shortcomings of Windows Event Viewer so people know what you're looking for in an Log Viewer. – kce Jan 3 at 2:41
Error highlighting id the big one, I've seen a lot of log viewers that do it but don't support evtx files. – Ryan Jones Jan 3 at 5:46

Would Splunk work for you? I dont think it will import evtx files, but it could always be pulling event logs directly from your server(s)

You could take a look at our event log monitoring suite EventSentry, which supports importing .evtx files (and real-time collection). Since you can setup filter rules and reports, this should allow you to do what you are looking for.

I'm not exactly sure however what you are trying to accomplish. Are you just trying to highlight a particular event id? We're always interested in suggestions regarding new features.

EventSentry includes a built-in event viewer as well.

Disclaimer: I work for netikus.net.
