Here is what happened: A few days ago, I enabled credSSP (Enable-WSManCredSSP -Role client) and have troubles ever since:

  • My local IIS 7.5 that I use for development stopped working. As far as I have read, this is due to the way the local account used for IIS authenticates itself on the server.
  • Secondly, I cannot get Remote Desktop to work anymore as the ports 3389 and 3390 are mapped to the Netword Service "Cryptographic Services"

I disabled the Cryptographic Services as well as credSSP (Disable-WSManCredSSP -Role client) and rebooted to no avail. Now, 3389 and 3390 point to TermService and apparently, the authentication method for IIS is still not the one it used to be.

Get-WSManInstance in Powershell asks for a ResourceURI that I dont know what information to supply. So if you need more information about the WSManInstance, please provide me with possible values :-(

As I am no expert when it comes to administering servers, I am in desperate need of an expert's advice! Many kudos to anyone who can help me reset to the default values!
