I'm currently working on migrating from Exchange 2007 to 2010. To test public folder migration I've created a new public folder on 2007. Added a new folder to it (calendar) and added a few entries. I have owner rights as myself, then added Administrator (how I'm logged onto the Exchange server) to both the Public Folder and it's Calendar child item. I then go to Exchange 2010, Toolbox, Public Folder Management Console and select the new folder I've just created. In the action pane I click on Properties, Replication tab. I see "Public Folder Database" listed and it shows it's on the 2007 Exchange server. I add the 2010 server and apply the settings. I then uncheck "Use public folder database replication schedule:", select Always run and click OK. I've waited for 15 minutes and checked back, all looks to be as I'd expect it to be.
I open Exchange Shell and issue the command Get-PublicFolder -Recurse | fl name,replicas > c:\publicfolders.txt
It returns a list of the public folders and their replicas. What's confusing me is...I'm not sure how to tell if the test folder has been successfully moved over. Here is the output for the test public folder and it's child item/calendar:
Name : ExchangeTest
Replicas : {EXCH2007\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database}
Name : TestingCalendar
Replicas : {PublicFolder2010}
I then go and remove the replication from that folder so that under Properties/Replication it only shows the 2010 server. I guess I'm just confused as it looks like the TestingCalendar is pointing to the 2010 Public Folder Database, but the parent (the actual Public Folder) ExchangeTest hasn't been moved? Just trying to test how this folder responds before attempting to actually move the production Public Folders. Can someone set me straight on what I should be seeing here? I tried removing everything from the Replication tab after it seems to have moved over, but it gave an error not liking that...so I assume it has to have at least one path in there.(?) Thanks for any input you can offer.
