Why is it that quite often ... at intermittent times our Outlook Express suddenly doesn't receive emails or is not able connect to our Hmailserver so that we can receive emails.
We know this because we get the error message on our email client (outlook express) then what we do is, ... we go through the whole procedure of accessing our hmailserver... in fact, the act of just arriving in the hmailserver ... strangely enough ... releases or clears the problem. We found this out quite by accident long ago simply because when we had this lock-up problem, we would report it to our 'data-base' developer, and after a while, when emails were suddenly working again, we would phone him to say 'thank you' and he would say " what do you mean Thank You - I have done nothing - I have just entered the hmailserver now and was about to look for the problem. Strange that it has cleared just by entering into the hmailserver". Why is that?
This happened quite often and he would confirm that all he did was ... arrive in our hmailserver.
So because we did not want to bug our data-base developer too frequently, we asked him for the log in codes to get into our hmailserver, so that we can do the act ourselves - also because on numerous occasions there were times when we could not get hold of our developer, and that means that emails would be down for a week or more ... and only operate again, once our developer returned from where ever he disappeared to. This prompted us to learn the procedure of how to arrive in our hmailserver.
So that's what we do now. But that is not the solution. When we are not around and this 'lock-up' situation occurs - it affects all our hosted website clients who use our email server and it is embarrassing. Plus if we ourselves are away on vacation, we always have to check emails in case the lock-up problem exists. What causes this lock up situation? And ... why is it such a simple remedy such as just arriving in our hmailserver that clears the fault? Who / what causes this fault? Can it be one of our website clients that does something untoward? Could it be a client sending / receiving emails?
