I am trying to connect to StrongVPN using PPTP on a Cisco/Linksys E4200. I've tried putting the router behind both a Netgear DG834N and a Netcomm NB6.

On the Netgear I've tried:

  1. Opening up ports 1723 and 47.
  2. Allowing WAN pings.
  3. Setting the E4200 as a DMZ server.
  4. Disabling DoS protection.
  5. Completely disabling the firewall.

On the Netcomm I've tried:

  1. Allowing VPN connections (I think that's all it allows you to do).

On the Linksys I've tried:

  1. Both stock and DD-WRT firmwares.
  2. A multitude of different combinations of settings most of which I can't remember.
  3. Stock settings. Connecting through PPTP. Fairly straight forward.

I either get "PPTP authentication failed" or "Cannot get IP address from PPTP server".

First and foremost, is this even possible? If so, what can I do to get it working?

Thanks in advance.
