Do AM3 sockets support AM3+? [closed]

Question

I am looking at upgrading my CPU. My motherboard supports AM3, and the CPU that I am looking at is AM3+.

So my question is, do AM3 sockets support AM3+ CPUs?

My motherboard is a ASUSTeK M4A78LT-M-LE, with a AMD chipset.

This question would be better geared toward the SE PowerUsers site since the hardware in mention and the nature of the question isn't very geared to serverfault.

No.

Motherboards with an AM3+ socket will support an AM3 CPU, but an AM3 board will not support the newer AM3+ CPU's (e.g.: Zambezi).
