I am looking at upgrading my CPU. My motherboard supports AM3, and the CPU that I am looking at is AM3+.

So my question is, do AM3 sockets support AM3+ CPUs?

My motherboard is a ASUSTeK M4A78LT-M-LE, with a AMD chipset.

This question would be better geared toward the SE PowerUsers site since the hardware in mention and the nature of the question isn't very geared to serverfault. – thinice Jan 24 '12 at 6:22

No.

Motherboards with an AM3+ socket will support an AM3 CPU, but an AM3 board will not support the newer AM3+ CPU's (e.g.: Zambezi).
