I am trying to set up a teamcity server in my local network so that it can also be accessed from outside.

the server runs on port 8111 and can be accessed fine from inside the lan.

In my router software i have forwarded the necessary ports to the ip of the machine where the teamcity server is running.

unfortunately when visiting the url from outside it does not resolve. by that i mean that the browser times out when trying to visit http://my.public.ip:8111

other services (http, ssh, etc.) work fine from outside.

I did not understand well what you mean by:

unfortunately when visiting the url from outside it does not resolve.

If this is related to DNS, you may be missing some A or CNAME record in your public DNS server.

However, it can be a routing/firewall issue if it is a timeout error. You need to explicitly tell us about the error message you are seeing.
