We have a small network with about 15 users and I just put up a new SharePoint server. Users can use the IP address internally to get to the site but the server name sometiems gives me this error:

We're sorry, but we were unable to process the redirection request for the site you are attempting to access. If you feel that you are receiving this message in error, please check the URL and try your request again.

After a while it will go back to normal. When this happens I'll do a ping test and the results give me an address outside the network. Any thoughts as to how I fix this? We have a new 2008 AD server that I replaced with the 2003 one.

Your question is too vague in its description for diagnosis. Is the sharepoint server also a domain controller, for instance? What are the external IP addresses? Are they yours? Put all of this information in your question. – JdeBP Jan 25 at 11:55
