Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I had wanted to change the root mysql passwords so I went into the privileges tab and changed all of the passwords with the user name root (not smart with not knowing what I was doing I know).

I went into the server via ssh and reset the root password. Now I can log in to phpMyAdmin but when I click on the privileges tab it sends me to the login page. Note that it does not actually log me out of phpmyadmin--clicking back twice gets me back in.

Has anyone run across this issue before? How can I fix this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you have ssh access to the server try this to change the password and fix privileges :

mysqladmin -u root -p'oldpassword' password newpassword
