When backing up a single volume group (e.g. Vol Group 00) containing about 400 GB of data, Storix Backup Administrator reports that it is backing up 1.5 TB which is incorrect. All unnecessary directories have been excluded, however, the incorrect backup size of 1.5 TB is still reported. As a result, Storix tries to backup 1.5 TB.
Also, when I try to backup the root filesystem (/), it still reports that it is backing up 1.5 TB. However, when I selected the only the necessary directories , the reported backup size is correct.
The filesystem it is trying to backup has a capacity of 500 GB and is in the volume group.
- Could there be an underlying filesystem problem causing this?
- Has anyone encountered similar behavior with Storix Backup software?
- I know that Bacula and Amanda could be substitutes for this if need be. How reliable are those backup software packages?
