Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Whenever I open up a Powerpoint file (or any other Office file like .doc, .xls, etc.) the file is opened up in Read Only mode. If I close out the file and re-open it then the problem is gone and I can edit as I please. We are running the latest ClearOS server and using Samba/LDAP to handle file sharing. I will post my config file below. I'm not sure if it's a permission or file locking issue or whatever. I'm fairly well versed in Linux but this one is stumping me for some reason.

Do you have the Details and Preview panes disabled on your clients? –  the-wabbit Feb 14 '12 at 0:43

What are your clients? Linux or Windows boxes? If both, does the problem occurs on both? –  Peter Senna Feb 15 '12 at 14:44

I do not have Details & Preview panes disabled. They are all Windows clients. Thank you! –  Tristan Hall Feb 17 '12 at 0:39
