Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a server using lighttpd with the kloxo control panel, and some of the lighttpd files were missing the PHP configuration so I decided to reinstall lighttpd using Kloxo (this should regenerate all of the config files.) But it didn't work, and when I tried to install it manually I got this error:

Error unpacking rpm package lighttpd-1.4.28-2.el5.rf.i386
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /var/log/lighttpd: cpio: chown

  lighttpd.i386 0:1.4.28-2.el5.rf

I removed all traces of lighttpd from the server and tried a different rpm, but I still got the same error. How do I fix it?
