Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

The situation: I have ubuntu server. After installing openvz I had to reboot it, but it never started. I was able to boot it in recovery mode, I mounted back partitions, backed up files.

I was following this tutorial - http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-and-using-openvz-on-ubuntu-10.04

Now I'm trying to understand what caused not booting and how to fix it.

Which log file would show the information I'm looking for?

Are you getting any error messages when you try to boot the machine? Such things are very helpful when trying to troubleshoot... –  voretaq7 Feb 20 '12 at 17:08
