We're contemplating the same problem as Best practice for administering a (hadoop) cluster. As the original poster mentioned, we would also like to deploy, manage configuration changes and history, monitor and decommision/commision machines. But with the following tweaks:

  • 30 nodes
  • "cloudera manager" has been making a lot of noise lately

Can cloudera manager replace all hadoop management puppet scripts? and if so, what do we use for deploying the cloudera manager itself - puppet/cobbler? will it make our lives easier?
