Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We have a website hosted by fatcow on a shared server. We purchased and installed a quick SSL cert from Geotrust for our domain. Fatcow instructed us to point our domain to the SSL IP for the SSL cert to work. We did and the cert seems to be working. However now, we have issues connecting to our ftp connection for the site. Does this have anything to do with the IP change? how do we fix it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

More information would be very useful. You said We have issues connecting to our ftp connection. Could you be more specific? Are you getting an error? What isn't working? –  Ek0nomik Mar 13 '12 at 18:01

We cannot use the ftp client because we get no connection to ftp.oursite.com –  Frank Mar 13 '12 at 18:13

Are you tring to use FTPs or sFTP ? the port numbers will be different. It also seems like you will need to edit your DNS record for ftp.yourdomain.com if the hosting company changed the IP. –  NcA Mar 13 '12 at 18:30
