Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Client migrated away from Exchange (server is no longer there) and was using webmail. One of the users had outlook saving the mail to the exchange profile instead of the the webmail profile. The exchange account ended up getting deleted by accident and now I can't re-import the OST mail because there is no longer access to the exchange server. I know there are tons of ost-to-pst converters but they are all paid versions.

Does anyone know of open source software that can allow me to import OST mail back into outlook? Just wondering before I buy something.

Sounds like you screwed up. You should probably just put your hand in your pocket and pay up to fix this. – tomfanning Mar 20 '12 at 21:04

Any of the 'free' ones I've ever used were crap. Sorry champ, pay up. – JohnThePro Mar 20 '12 at 21:29
This is going to be a paid job. If you want to do it on the cheep and risk loseing MORE data then on your head. Being cheep with customers data is a sure way of not getting used again. – t1nt1n Apr 11 '12 at 6:33
Chill out, I should have said open source. Just wanted to know if there was a OPEN SOURCE solution before making a client pay for something. – evolvd Apr 12 '12 at 13:57
Why not just archive the email from the outlook profile to a PST? They should be able to open outlook in offline mode and just move the mail to a PST. Unless the you only have the OST... if that's the case you might be SOL. – Hugh Apr 12 '12 at 17:45

You need to use a professional tool that will help you with the OST to PST conversion. Look for a tool that is easy to use and comes with all the requisites for an error free conversion. I would recommend a free demo first, to see if the software is worth the money. I am sharing a link that might be of use.
