Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

When I setup a VPN connection on my ubuntu box and enable it, all my network activity is taken over by it.

What I want to do is to go through VPN, only when I visit websites like Hulu and Netflix.

I was told to look at "policy routing" but it's a big domain and I don't even know where to start.

What are the steps?

Thank you.

"Ubuntu box". It's 64 bit. –  tapirath Apr 19 '12 at 9:23

Isn't it enough to setup static routes for those websites and leave the default gateway through VPN? –  Khaled Apr 19 '12 at 9:25

Hmm I'm probably wrong but wouldn't that be the inverse of what I want? I don't want to use VPN by default. I only want to use it with those sites. –  tapirath Apr 19 '12 at 9:37

The same idea applies. –  Khaled Apr 19 '12 at 9:45
