Is my issue a result of software version?

I have a Cisco PIX515. Version 8.0(4)28

I needed to remove an access list. One of the octets in the IP address was entered in error. Here is the line I need to remove:

access-list outside_access_in_Backup line 9 extended permit tcp any host eq www

I entered global configuration mode and entered the command:

no access-list outside_access_in_Backup line 9

But I received incomplete command. I thought, apparently in error, that the 'no' command with just the access list number, would remove the command in question. I did remove the access list by pasting in the whole line after 'no' but just curious as to why it did not work the other way.

Thank you.

I've noticed this before, and to my knowledge, that's just the way it works... might be because 9 could potentially also match 90, and 900? –  SpacemanSpiff Apr 19 '12 at 14:46
Fair enough. Thanks. How do I mark this as closed? –  Kernel Panic Apr 19 '12 at 17:39
