Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am new to Solaris, (duh ?!) and took a stab at setting up a solaris machine with zones. The solaris machine sits on vmware esxi server. I no problems getting the machine up and running, besides a few networking hoops I had to jump through. That being said I setup the first zone. Everything seemed to install/set up fine. The problem is the zone's network can only reach the global zone, eg ping 192.168.1.53 returns 192.168.1.53 is alive. It cannot reach any other machines on the network, including the router, or the internet. I tried a few things on the following guides online (which were helpful in getting the global zone's networking going)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Can you add the output of "netstat -rn" run in the zone, and the output of "zonecfg -z YOURZONENAME info" run in the global zone? Suitably anonymised, of course –  meulop May 1 '12 at 16:28
