I am looking for a good linux firewall appliance and I find Endian and Smoothwall

Somebody has worked with this devices and can tell me which is best? Are There any other good options?

devices? how about getting a pair of dell/hp/lenovo/other servers with 3yr nbd warranty? you will have more headroom to grow, more standardized and extendable setup than under-powered low-end appliances.

software? at the end you'll have much more flexibility [and chance to find tutorials] if you go with debian/ubuntu/centos; yes - there'll be no web gui. but after some time you'll find web bui to be limiting you.
