I have a .vdi file that has a setup of Bodhi Linux which I am trying to run with virtualbox. Everything goes fine and the system starts but stops at the grub screen, not loading the linux on the VirtualBox.. i have a command line which looks like grub>____ pressing tab gives me the list of commands that i can run and when I try to run boot it says no loaded kernel. Any help will be highly appreciated.. I have an assignment due tomorrow.. :(

What is the error message you are receiving? –  Nicholas May 9 '12 at 18:09
no error messages.. I am expected to get the GUI of Bodhi Linux once I start the machine.. instead I am stuck at the GNU grub command line.. I tried the boot command but it says no loaded kernel.. I am sorry if I am not making much sense.. I am total greenhorn when it comes to Linux and virtualbox.. –  LinuxQuestions May 9 '12 at 18:33
At the grub> prompt, run cat /grub/grub.conf and paste that output in your post. –  Nicholas May 9 '12 at 20:21
error: file not found –  LinuxQuestions May 10 '12 at 2:17
It looks like grub can't find it's configuration. I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but at this point reinstalling the operating system would be much faster than me helping you write a new one. –  Nicholas May 10 '12 at 14:04
