I am running:

WampServer 2.0 Php 2.3.0 Apache 2.2.11 ImageMagick 6.7.7-0 2012-05-17 Q16 Windows XP .net Framework 3.0

I recently was able to hack together an install of imagemagick into the above setup. Was really relieved after 2 days of trying to get php to notice it. Anyway, now when I run the following simple imagemagick code in PHP, Apache in Windows XP:

$im = new imagick( 'bg.jpg' );
// resize by 200 width and keep the ratio
$im->thumbnailImage( 200, 0);
// write to disk
$im->writeImage( 'a_thumbnail.jpg' );

Apache logs don't show any problem. So, what else can I look at to find the reason for the problem?

odd, seems to be fine with more complex commands –  David May 22 '12 at 20:08
Why don't you just use a VirtualBox with a Linux distribution and have a dev system that is actually working, without having to spends days to somehow put something together that is partially working? –  SvW May 22 '12 at 20:41
try to not pass any arguments on object creation e.g. "new imagick()" and it should work. i got the same problem and was able to get rid of it that way. –  Hajo Jun 17 '12 at 12:07
update: with php 5.4 and another imagick dll file it even works with arguments on object creation –  Hajo Jun 17 '12 at 12:21
