I have a 3ware 9550SX(U) that doesn't show up to OSs. This is strange because LSI says Openfiler(Linux) has native drivers in the kernel. Also when Int 13 catches I get a list of the 6 Drives I have installed, but when I try to press Alt-3 I get "3Ware BIOS isn't installed". Being able to setup arrays from BIOS and run Hardware RAID would be great, but I would be happy if I could just get Linux to see the drives attached to the card and run a Software RAID. I installed Openfiler to one of the mobo sata ports.

Is the motherboard on their HCL? The BIOS Option ROMs on some RAID cards are huge and it's a notorious problem for MBs with small size limits. Is OpenFiler picking up the card at all? I think the default is to no pass any drives that aren't in an array, so they wouldn't show up by default. –  Chris S May 27 '12 at 4:43

can you show part of lspci -kv output with your 3ware controller? –  DukeLion May 27 '12 at 4:43

Did you run through 3ware linux drivers installation checklist? –  Dmitri Chubarov May 27 '12 at 4:43
