Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

After upgrade from Squeeze to Wheezy (testing), I end up with few errors when running apt-get upgrade further.

Most of the errors concern openoffice.org and libreoffice, both of which I do not need. In fact, it's a server host, that will be used for test environment for few services that mostly need apache/python etc but absolutely no need of offices, gui or something like that.

Here are the errors:

root@debian-node:/home/debian# apt-get upgrade

  ttf-freefont

some aside comments: you might benefit from making sure the locales package is installed, and if it is run dpkg-reconfigure locales in order to fix some of those warnings. You should be very weary of running Debian testing on a public facing box. There is currently no security support for testing (which is normal). Security fixes can take a long time to make it to testing via normal package migration from unstable. –  stew Jun 1 '12 at 13:19

This did the trick, hope it helps someone:

root@debian-node:/home/debian# apt-get purge openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-common ttf-opensymbol uno-libs3
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  libcolamd2.7.1 libcommons-beanutils-java libcommons-collections3-java libcommons-compress-java libcommons-digester-java libdb-je-java libhsqldb-java libhsqldb-java-gcj libicu4j-java libjline-java libjtidy-java liblucene2-java lp-solve ttf-liberation
  ttf-sil-gentium-basic
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
