I am trying to install VMware 5 from a USB stick.

The installation hangs at the beginning with the following error:

  • on Vmware forum it's suggested that I should disable MAXCPUID on the bios - sadly - I don't have that option on my server board.

    • anyone knows how should this be named on the board?

It's a super strong server we got from Intel for development, and I need to update it's bios.

The board data that I have is:

  • CPU - SandyBridge Patsburg
  • Romley EP
  • Board name: Canoe

I tried locating some BIOS info on this, with no success.

Report back to Intel so they can provide development resources to VMWare. Is the server on the VMWare compatibility list? – JGurtz Jun 5 '12 at 18:47
