Hi guys I have been trying for a few hours to install and get FTP to work...

I did yum install ftp and yum install vsftpd

They all installed and are running but when I try to use filezilla or some other client I just can't connect....I've tried connecting on port 21 and port 990 ....nothing!

These are my iptables

Any help would be much appreciated!

If I do lsof -i :21 without the "." it shows nothing.

Please provide the output of the following on the CentOS server: lsof -i :21 –  HTTP500 Jun 5 '12 at 15:26

Results are on original post. –  josi Jun 5 '12 at 15:42

as far as I can tell it's just port 21 will not open at all... I try ftp localhost and I get connect: Connection refused –  josi Jun 5 '12 at 16:26

vsftpd does not appear to be running if lsof -i :21 did not produce any output. Have you done: service vsftpd start ? –  HTTP500 Jun 5 '12 at 16:30

It was running. it failed when I tried to do start..but I stopped it and then started it and it ran. –  josi Jun 5 '12 at 16:32
