When I come into work in the morning the first thing I do is authenticate to Kerberos and run
aklog so I can access my AFS file system. I then delete an old tripwire report in my AFS space that I generated the day before.
What I notice is that this first delete in the morning is very slow, taking about 10 to 15 seconds. The file is quite small, only a few kilobytes.
After this first delete, everything seems to work at a reasonable pace.
Why is this first delete in the morning so slow?
The environment is Debian squeeze and I don't log out overnight.
