I am having a situation here as like a VPN tunnel establishes successfully. This remains alive for around an hour or so. And then it gets terminated from one end. However, the end doesn't attempt to re-establish the connection.

Once the tunnel gets down, if ipsec forced to restart, the tunnel gets up again.

Well, the debug logs gives so many things when enabled, and when disabled, gives nothing significant.

The question is, what cases might be in such situation - "getting down, and not starting up on its own"

Here the VPN connection is between Openswan and Huawei

Sounds like a key duration mismatch to me. Not sure how that's configured in either openswan or huawei though. –  DerfK Jul 11 '12 at 14:30
Hello Derfk, as per my knowledge, i have tried my best to make the parameters same at both end. Is there any other possible reason that this might happen. –  Dhruba Adhikari Jul 12 '12 at 3:55
